The 80s-oriented Anjunabeats duo gets a banging remix from veteran Myon.
Jono Grant and Darren Tate have been collecting remixes, as of late. After releasing their time capsule of an album JODA, the duo, also named JODA, has been seeing some remixes see the light of day. Jono, for example, took matters into his own hands and released a Stadium Mix of their lead single, ‘We Find Ourselves‘. Recently, Simon Doty released his own remix for ‘Closer‘, as part of his latest album, Universal Language.
It was now time for veteran Anjunabeats producer Myon to reveal what he was cooking using JODA’s tracks as a base. In this case, he’s crafted a powerful remix for ‘Breaking Down Walls‘.
Breaking Down Walls (Myon’s Return to 2000 Mix)
Debuted during Above & Beyond’s ABGT500 set, the Return to 2000 Mix features a variety of modern progressive sounds, as well as some old cues too. The drop starts with the vocal, paired with a banging techno/trance kick, with more and more melodic elements coming to play to shift the ambiance of the song from dark to trancy.
The break leaves you floating in a purely Trance-inducing atmosphere, before bringing the chorus vocals and an arpeggio that can only remind me of N-Joi’s ‘Anthem’. The melody succeeding really emphasises that Trance sound, with a saw synth, just open enough to begin lifting your arms up. And then, the drop brings it all to the dancefloor again, with a sustained and low-pitched saw lead. A complete experience.
