SLANDER and Nejvex Reunite for Booster Ignition
The Los Angeles-based, GRAMMY-nominated duo SLANDER has officially released their latest collaboration, “Booster Ignition,” featuring the rising talent Nejvex. Available now through Gud Vibrations, the track serves as a significant milestone in a professional relationship that began years ago when the duo first identified Nejvex through their ICON Collective scholarship initiative.
Musically, “Booster Ignition” is a high-octane exploration of modern dubstep and riddim. The production utilizes a cinematic sci-fi aesthetic, incorporating NASA-inspired system checks to build tension before transitioning into aggressive sub-bass drops, intricate synth work, and a dystopian soundscape. The track balances these heavy, visceral moments with precise rhythmic shifts, highlighting a sophisticated approach to bass music design.
“Getting to work on this track together was the best experience ever and definitely a full circle moment for me,” says Nejvex. “I remember a few years ago getting a DM from SLANDER with interest in signing some of my tracks to their label which I was super taken aback by. After that the connection sort of kept on growing over the years — I released an official remix for them, won their ICON Collective scholarship, moved out to LA and after finishing out school, I started working in the studio with them a bunch.”
The collaboration reflects a deeper creative bond between the artists, moving beyond the studio to a genuine friendship. Nejvex notes that their shared musical sensibilities made the process seamless, allowing them to craft a unique sound within the competitive dubstep landscape. He describes the project as his favorite work to date.
The trajectory of Nejvex has been steady since his move from Czechia to Los Angeles. Following his time at ICON Collective, he has become a frequent fixture on the Gud Vibrations label, having released his OUTLAW EP in 2024 and his more recent DON’T BE MAD EP earlier this month. His professional growth includes providing tour support for SLANDER’s “The Voyager” audiovisual tour and delivering official remixes for the duo.
SLANDER continues to use their platform to cultivate emerging talent, and Nejvex has successfully translated his production style to live audiences across North America. He has performed at major venues including Pacha NYC, Echostage, and the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium. With the release of “Booster Ignition,” the artists celebrate years of mentorship and creative synergy. As the single hits streaming platforms, SLANDER is preparing to embark on their upcoming Asia Tour.
