Das Mörtal Previews DECVY I With DRAIN ME
Dark synthwave producer Das Mörtal is gearing up for the September 30, 2026, release of his latest two-track single, “DRAIN ME,” via Lisbon Lux Records. The project serves as an introductory look at his forthcoming mini-album, DECVY I, which is scheduled for an October 29 debut.
The title track begins with a cinematic, expansive soundscape before accelerating into a driving, techno-influenced rhythm. Defined by arpeggiated synth plucks and heavy sidechain compression, the composition features the artist’s own signature, washed-out vocal style. The track navigates through a dark, dystopian atmosphere, eventually giving way to a half-time breakdown before building toward a powerful, high-energy climax.
Regarding the inspiration behind the song, the producer notes it captures the frustration and exhaustion of navigating complex healthcare systems while undergoing repetitive medical testing.
The single also includes a remix by Dan Terminus, a prominent figure in the synthwave scene. This reimagining adopts a glitch-focused approach, deconstructing the vocal lines into fragmented, textural elements set against a backdrop of aggressive acoustic and synthesized bass. With the addition of sharp percussion and violin accents, the remix offers a fresh, dynamic perspective while remaining faithful to the original’s bleak, moody aesthetic.
These tracks pave the way for DECVY I, the latest entry in the artist’s discography. Now based in Montréal, the producer originally honed his craft in Berlin, drawing inspiration from a diverse range of sources including Aphex Twin, Steve Moore, and the gritty textures of classic horror soundtracks. His unique blend of Italo disco, techno, and occult-inspired electro has garnered over 31.4 million streams on Spotify.
Over the past decade, the producer has maintained a busy touring schedule, playing nearly 100 shows across the U.S., Europe, and Scandinavia.
