Grammy award winning DJ and Producer Skrillex enlists help from Palestinian performer and composer Nai Barghouti for the release of his newest single ‘Xena‘ which is out now on OWSLA / Atlantic Records.
The LA based producer has been on a roll of collaborative releases. One being his most recent single ‘Real Spring‘ featuring Bladee which generated successful praise from the press like PITCHFORK, FADER, COMPLEX, and HYPEBEAST. Skrillex is now giving his fans something they might’ve not expected. In contrast, his previous collaborations are with prominent dance music and hip-hop megastars such as Fred again.., Flow Dan, Trippie Redd, PinkPantheress, and Bobby Raps. The forward thinking producer has now enlisted the help of Edward Said National Conservatory of Music in Palestine graduate Nai Barghouti on his newest release.
Barghouti, a world famous singer, composer, and flute player, provides the perfect back elements of ‘the track ‘Xena’ for Skrillex. They continue highlighting the malleability of genre and sound with this new hyper percussive anthem. All together, driven by Barghouti’s traditionally rooted vocals. Skrillex’s sonic evolution throughout this series of recent releases is sure to draw the curiosity of fans.
What makes ‘Xena’ Skrillex’s next hit song?
‘Xena’ starts off with Barghouti’s vocals in company of background vocals that emphasize the dance-mixed genre Skrillex is pinpointing. Next, a drum group soon joins the perfected vocals to build tension towards the first drop of the song. The drops, mostly made of drums and a signature Skrillex bass, packs an explosive punch of addicting rudiments. In the bridge, Barghouti comes back to guide the listener into the final drop, which consist of a techno style kick with an even bigger punch than the first and second. Finally, the song ends with a euphoric vocal rift singing the final notes of ‘Xena’.

Even after Skrillex’s year away from the dance scene, he still manages to stay on top and wow his fans all over the world with his next moves.
