Leave it to Porter Robinson to lift your spirits and enthusiasm about live streams during quarantine. The American producer delivered an artfully curated Secret Sky Festival on Saturday—and a new track, ‘Look At The Sky,’ filled with feels like his masterpieces ‘Shelter’ and ‘Language.’
The lineup for the 14-hour virtual event was similar to Robinson’s Second Sky Music Festival, which he promised will be back after the Covid-19 pandemic. Secret Sky featured a number of heavy-hitters including Madeon, San Holo, G Jones and Jai Wolf. Robinson made the fest extra special with an interactive space with scribble avatars, a set by his Second Sky mascot DJ Potaro, and acts like digital band Anamanaguchi. Relive the sets by taking a listen below.
Kicking off Secret Sky was DJ Potaro, playing a Porter Robinson 2010-style electro house set. The round blue creature didn’t touch the decks once and was entertaining, to say the least.
Robinson’s 75-minute set was a blissful journey blending his new tracks with his classics. He started with ‘Something Comforting,’ the second single off his upcoming album. He dropped a beautiful harmonica edit of the first single, ‘Get Your Wish.’ He made fans laugh with a seamless mashup of Avril Lavigne’s ‘I’m With You’ and ‘Language.’
Many fans anticipated a new track from Robinson, and he gifted it at the end of his set. ‘Look At The Sky’ hooks listeners immediately with an uplifting piano melody that quickly escalates, and layers of unique vocals that Robinson is known for. It’s the perfect tune for a festival and we can’t wait to experience it live.
Robinson’s friend and ‘Shelter’ co-producer Madeon threw down nothing less than expected—an eclectic set with plenty of songs from his recent album ‘Good Faith.’
The ‘Light’ producer played an intimate set with his decks on the floor with a string of lights and lit candles.
