Gov Ball ‘Closely Monitoring’ Air Quality in NYC

If you haven’t heard, New York is experiencing the worst air quality in the world right now. Because of early wildfires in Canada, wind has pushed huge amounts of smoke into the city. This has led to yellow skies covering the city. Governors Ball also happens to be occurring this very weekend. They are “closely monitoring” the situation.

Yesterday, smoke caused conditions to be hazardous on the air quality scale. Levels were 400+ in some areas. This is dangerous for every person outside and extremely recommended to stay inside if you can. Predictions for the upcoming weekend appear to be in the “very unhealthy” range. Which basically means “Members of sensitive groups may experience health effects. The general public is less likely to be affected.” Still, not great air to be breathing in and dancing.

The Governors Ball team has stated they are going forward as planned. They are “hopeful that conditions will improve in the coming days and are looking forward to a great weekend!” This year’s edition will take place at Citi Field and feature headliners Lizzo, Odesza, and Kendrick Lamar. Diplo, Lil Nas X, Haim, Lil Uzi Vert, Rina Sawayama, Lil Baby, Omar Apollo, Pusha T, Aespa, Giveon, and Sofi Tukker will also be performing.

Stay tuned for further updates regarding the festival.
