Flamingo Throws First Pool Party Since Las Vegas's Awakening From COVID

Flamingo Hotel and Casino held its first pool party this week. It’s been nearly 80 days since the COVID-19 lockdown. This quarantine that halted Las Vegas’s economy and livelihood since March. With tourism as their major source of income, reopening means serious business.

Sin City is one of dance music’s prime locations for entertainment. From its hotels, casinos, restaurants, etc., all have taken a huge financial hit since quarantine happened. Now being able to slowly reopen things, we may see a different experience now.

One of those changes is reduced capacity for all their institutions. Safety protocols include social distancing, wearing face masks, hand washing, and sanitization stations. Las Vegas saw the reopening of MGM Resorts International’s Bellagio, MGM Grand, New York New York, and Signature. Plus, Caesars Palace, Flamingo, and Harrah’s reopened as well.

Check out Flamingo’s tweet about their safety protocols below.

What COVID-19 Changed About Vegas

Face masks must continue to be worn. Just look at Caesar and his golden mask. Casinos have fewer chairs like the missing middle seats of an airplane. Expect new limits per table and face shielded dealers behind plexiglass.

New state gaming regulations set casino capacities to 50% and foot traffic is light. The Bellagio fountains continue to dance, and the High Roller wheel is going. Every other attraction remains closed. Don’t forget to walk through the temperature detectors when you check-in for your hotel. You will most likely encounter temperature checks more than twice a day. Buffets are not open and hotel pools have reduced capacity. However, free parking is back to encourage visitors.

What COVID-19 Hasn’t Changed About Vegas

Feel free to drink and frolic around everywhere. Smoking is still allowed inside the casinos, minus the couple of smoke-free ones. And you’ll still have to pay the hefty resort and ATM fees.

All in all, Vegas is eager to welcome the world back with open (though slightly restricted) arms. “What happens here, only happens here” is their new slogan.
