Chris Lake Gives Props to Skrillex on His Albums

British musician Chris Lake posted on Facebook to give his thoughts on Skrillex‘s latest album—after a year hiatus. The DJ released an album, Quest For Fire, on February 17th and announced the same day that he would be dropping yet another album the following day. He released the collab-heavy Don’t Get Too Close during his Madison Square Garden rave with Fred Again and Four Tet. It’s been almost a decade since his last album and, so far, fans and critics alike seem to approve.

Producer and DJ, Chris Lake, rose to fame in 2006 with his single, “Changes,” with Laura V. He’s had several hits since then including songs like “Turn off the Lights,” or those with Steve Aoki like “Boneless” and “Delirious” with Kid Ink.

Grammy-winning DJ, Skrillex, rose to prominence in late 2010 with the release of his third EP, Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites. Since then, he’s dropped a number of crowd-favorites, including ‘Where Are Ü Now (with Justin Bieber),’ which has more than a billion listens on Spotify, and ‘Bangarang (feat. Sirah)‘ with nearly half a billion listens.

Lake and Skrillex have performed on stage together, most recently at Suwannee Hulaween music festival in 2021 with Bonobo. The week after Skrillex dropped his new albums, Lake took to Facebook to share his innermost thoughts on the music.

The musician raved about the DJ’s talent, saying his sound was fully unique—”You strive to navigate spaces in a way others don’t. No matter what sound or style you’re producing, you know what it always sounds like? Skrillex.”

He also acknowledged that he helped produce two of the songs and thanked Skrillex for giving him credit on them saying, “I hardly changed anything though in reality. Just little tweaks. We obsess over low end details together.”
