Brightline has just announced it will begin operations on routes to Orlando in Q2 of this year. The new trains are scheduled to be running by EDC Orlando in November. More than 90% of the work for the Orlando extension is already complete. EDC Orlando 2022 was as big as ever, creating an electric sky at Tinker Field. Now for locals, it will be even better.
Brightline is a high-speed train company that operates in Florida. It can take you just about anywhere in the sunshine state. Ridership on the existing Brightline service between Miami and West Palm Beach continues to rise. It is up 143% in January alone, compared to the same period in 2022. Overall, they saw over a million riders in 2022.
Two new stations, Boca Raton and Aventura contributed 42,391 rides to the Brightline system in January. In addition, the Miami-Dade commuter rail system continues to advance, with design and engineering firm HNTB on schedule to complete design and cost estimates for the service in March 2023.
