Killed It! Records is continuing to expand beyond Barely Alive with the release of elden’s new POWERTRIP EP, out now. The project serves as the label’s first standalone release from an artist outside its founders, making it an important early statement for Killed It!’s broader mission of developing and supporting the next generation of brostep and heavy bass producers. elden proves a natural fit for that direction.
Finding the Balance Between Beauty and Chaos
Across POWERTRIP EP, he draws from the sound and energy of classic dubstep and brostep while leaning into more contemporary production techniques, emotional songwriting, and sharp dynamic contrast. That approach comes into clearest focus on “FIREWALL,” the project’s centerpiece and a track built around the collision of beauty and chaos.
elden says the song began with a rough drop idea that almost never made the final project. He eventually pushed through the track late in the creative process, and it became his favorite song on the EP. The finished version moves between high-energy melodic sections and more destructive drops, continuing the heavy-meets-vulnerable direction he recently explored on “War Machine.”
That range has helped generate early support from some of bass music’s biggest names. Excision has played elden’s music at Bass Canyon, while Levity and Tape B have supported him during their Summer Program Tour. Ray Volpe, Eliminate, Crankdat, Boombox Cartel, Marshmello, and Barely Alive have also shown support across social media.
elden has been equally enthusiastic about releasing the project through Killed It!, describing the label’s development as inspiring and pointing to the ideas already taking shape behind the scenes. The timing places POWERTRIP EP at an interesting point for both artist and label.
