SVDDEN DEATH and SILO Dallas Offer Refunds for Security “Overreacting” to Moshing

SVDDEN DEATH also cited “heavily limited” sound at SILO Dallas as a factor in his decision to work with the venue to offer refunds for his recent show.

SVDDEN DEATH shows are known for two things: Bone-rattling audio and mosh pits that put those of metal shows to shame. The Los Angeles DJ was apparently unable to deliver on either front during his January 2 appearance at SILO Dallas, and he’s worked with the venue to offer refunds to attendees who feel short changed.

According to people present at the event, SILO’s sound system had been turned down and security ejected attendees from the venue for moshing. “I cannot believe how SILO Dallas handles SVDDEN DEATH,” wrote one social media commenter. “Turning down the sound, kicking people out because of mosh pits??? What the fuck dude.”

“SILO Dallas, that was the most disappointing show,” wrote another. “Watching people walk out on SVDDEN DEATH made me sad. It’s safe to say I will not be returning to y’all’s venue.”

“SILO is the best venue in Dallas but my show there last weekend the sound was heavily limited and security was HIGHLY overreacting to moshing,” wrote SVDDEN DEATH (real name Danny Howland) on X. “I worked out with them a full refund for anyone who wants one or had a bad experience at the show. I think this is a great step for them to fix these issues and I really appreciate them taking accountability.”

SILO Dallas has not publicly addressed attendees’ complaints at the time of writing. According to Howland, however, refund requests can be emailed to [email protected].

Meanwhile, next on Howland’s tour schedule is a performance at EDC Thailand from January 16-18. With any luck, the sound will be decently loud — but we’re not quite sure how they feel about moshing over in Phuket.
