Slow Joy Embraces Uncertainty on New Single “Forget” Ahead of Sophomore Album

Slow Joy has officially unveiled his latest single, “Forget,” released via MDDN Records. The track serves as a compelling preview of his highly anticipated sophomore album, Esteban Flores, arriving just as the artist prepares to embark on his extensive North American headlining tour, the I Love You So Much I Could Die Tour. Pre-orders for the upcoming project are currently available through the official store.

At the core of “Forget” lies a profound meditation on the necessity of surrendering control and embracing the inherent unpredictability of life. Reflecting on the creative process and the song’s underlying message, Esteban Flores shared, “Forget is a song about giving in. I always felt like I had an idea of what life was like and how things were supposed to work. As I get older I realize nothing in life is certain. That’s a beautiful thing.”

The track was co-written by Esteban Flores and Josh Varnadore—a collaborator known for his work with industry heavyweights such as OneRepublic, David Guetta, and Gwen Stefani. Together, they have crafted a sound that perfectly encapsulates the sonic duality defining Slow Joy. The composition features crushing walls of distortion juxtaposed against intimate, vulnerable passages, resulting in a powerful fusion of emo, shoegaze, and Alternative Rock that highlights Flores’ signature introspective songwriting.

“Forget” stands out as one of the most emotionally resonant moments on the forthcoming album, pairing soaring instrumentation with themes of personal growth and acceptance. This release continues a remarkable trajectory for Flores, who originally established Slow Joy as a vital creative outlet for processing grief and navigating periods of instability.

Since his emergence, Flores has cultivated a dedicated following through his brutally honest lyricism and explosive live performances. His previous work, including fan favorites like “Soft Slam,” “Crawling,” and “SLC Punk on an SSRI,” alongside his acclaimed debut album, A Joy So Slow At Times I Don’t Think It’s Coming, has solidified his reputation as one of the most compelling new voices in the alternative scene.

Fans will soon have the opportunity to experience the new material live during the 21-date I Love You So Much I Could Die Tour. The run will feature support from Bike Routes, Glom, The High Curbs, and Growing Pains, with stops in major cities including Austin, Phoenix, Denver, Toronto, Brooklyn, and Atlanta, before concluding on August 14 in Dallas.

With “Forget,” Slow Joy continues to refine a sound that is both expansive and deeply personal, offering a poignant reminder that uncertainty can be as transformative as it is unsettling. As anticipation builds for Esteban Flores, the new single suggests that Flores is entering his most emotionally resonant chapter to date.
