Due to the economic strain that COVID has placed upon businesses worldwide, the music industry has taken a big hit in its income due to the elimination of all live shows and events. As a result, the National Independent Venue Association (NIVA) created “Save Our Stages”. Their mission is to help preserve and nurture the ecosystem of independent live music venues and promoters nationwide.
Save Our Stages is putting together a three-day virtual festival to help raise donations for the NIVA Emergency Relief Fund. The fund will help support financially vulnerable venues and help keep them afloat and continue business.
The lineup features artists across all genres, including Dillon Francis, Major Lazer, Marshmello, Foo Fighters, G-Eazy, Portugal. The Man, Finneas, Jason Mraz, Macklemore, Miley Cyrus, and more. These artists will perform at an independent venue.
As a result, these locally popular locations display the very real economic threat that venues face nationally. Venues that will be shown in the festival livestream include First Ave, The Parish, Neumos, Crystal Ballroom, 9:30 Club, Apollo Theater, Boulder Theatre, Gramps, and The Jefferson Theater just to name a few.
During Oct 16th-18th, #SOSFEST will be streamed live on NIVA’s YouTube channel. Additionally, you can donate online to help support these independent venues nationwide.
