Mochakk said, “OBLIQO is a project I’ve been working on for a while and keeping secret from you guys.”
Not many DJs can count a nightclub launch among their accomplishments. Come tonight, September 6, Mochakk will be one of the few. His new space is called OBLIQO, and it opens in his hometown of Sorocaba, Brazil with the release party of his Locomotiva Ibiza 2099 – Part II EP via CircoLoco Records.
“OBLIQO will be the first venue in the city dedicated to fostering and strengthening the national music scene” and is meant to “celebrate, educate and inspire the electronic music community both locally and beyond,” according to its website. The 600-capacity club boasts a sound system by Brazilian company 4VIAS Professional Audio along with equipment by B&C Speakers.
OBLIQO, which translates to “shifted perspective” in Portugese, “is a project I’ve been working on for a while and keeping secret from you guys,” according to an Instagram post by Mochakk. Its website states that “the project’s concept is closely tied to the meaning of the word in various ways, encompassing everything from the house’s aesthetic and architectural aspects to the current nightlife scene in Sorocaba/SP.”
“A multi-faceted venue and creative space built by me and best friends, to give back to our home city is opening THIS FRIDAY with the official LOCOMOTIVA IBIZA 2099 II release party,” he continued. “So happy to finally bring both these projects to the world!!“
Consisting of three tracks, the EP includes collaborations with Canadian rapper Tommy Genesis and Brazilian producer Artisian.
A statement from the nightclub reads, “OBLIQO is more than just a nightclub; it’s a groundbreaking hub for the electronic music scene, created to inspire, educate, and connect both the local community and global audiences.”
