Michaël Brun Launches BAYO Sessions To Spotlight Haitian Artists And Diaspora Voices

In celebration of Haitian Heritage Month, producer, DJ, and cultural ambassador Michaël Brun introduces BAYO Sessions, a new freestyle performance series dedicated to amplifying artists from Haiti and across the global diaspora. The first installment, Vol. 1 featuring Steves J. Bryan, is out now, marking the next evolution of Brun’s ongoing mission to bring Haitian voices to an international stage.

Conceived as both a creative platform and an extension of the broader BAYO universe, the series centers on the sounds, identity, and cultural expression of the Caribbean diaspora. Each performance is filmed in a custom-built booth inspired by Haiti’s vibrant lotto stands, transforming everyday community spaces into immersive live settings that feel both familiar and reimagined.

The opening run of sessions highlights the diversity of Haiti’s musical landscape. Vol. 1 focuses on Steves J. Bryan, whose Rap Kreyol style blends hip-hop with Haitian Creole, grounding his delivery in lived experience and cultural identity. Future installments expand that scope, with J Perry bringing the rhythmic pulse of Konpa and Andybeatz exploring the high-energy textures of Bouyon and Raboday—each artist offering a distinct perspective within the country’s evolving sonic ecosystem.

At its core, BAYO Sessions reflects Michaël Brun’s broader vision: creating platforms that not only showcase music but also preserve and elevate cultural narratives. By centering language, rhythm, and storytelling rooted in Haiti, the series positions itself as both a performance format and a cultural archive in motion.

The launch arrives alongside growing momentum for BAYO’s 10-year anniversary celebrations, set to take place in Boston and Brooklyn this June, with the Brooklyn edition expanding into a three-night run for the first time. Since its founding in 2016 as a Haitian block party, BAYO—which translates to “giving” in Haitian Creole—has evolved into a multi-city platform built on community, collaboration, and cross-cultural exchange.

Over the years, Michaël Brun has brought more than 120 artists into the BAYO ecosystem, spotlighting talent from across the Afro-Caribbean diaspora and beyond, including Wyclef Jean, Anthony Ramos, Shirazee, Oxlade, and Kah-Lo. With more than 20 events and over 50,000 tickets sold across the United States, the platform has grown into a powerful expression of Haitian pride and global cultural connection.

With BAYO Sessions, Michaël Brun continues to expand that vision—creating space for new voices, new stories, and a deeper understanding of the sounds shaping Haiti and its diaspora today.
