Martin Garrix was crowned the top DJ in the world for the fifth time today during the Top 100 DJs Awards Show at AMF in Amsterdam.

Beloved DJ, producer, and label boss Martin Garrix has been on quite a ride in the scene over the past decade. After the success of his hit tune “Animals,” the Dutch artist has become one of the brightest, most desired stars in the scene, with countless accolades under his belt. One of those accomplishments was gaining first place in voting for DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs annual poll – and now, after winning the award four times in the past nine years, he’s done it again.

Martin Garrix dethroned David Guetta, who won the top spot in the previous three of four years, to take the number one position. His fifth win of the award was backed by some major moments in 2024, including a stunning residency at Ushuaïa Ibiza, performances at top festivals worldwide, and a flurry of hit tunes that generated millions of plays. This win places Martin Garrix next to Armin van Buuren on the list of artists with the highest number of top placements in the Top 100 DJs poll, making the two Dutch artists the most decorated in the scene.

I’m in the list with all my idols — I look up to Armin, I look up to Tiësto. To be in there with those guys is very surreal. My biggest worry when I entered the list, and topped [it], was that it could only go downhill from here, so it’s very special we’re back at the No.1 spot.

Rounding out the rest of the top ten DJs are some of the biggest names in the scene today. David Guetta and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike came in at the second and third spots, while Alok and Timmy Trumpet came in at fourth and fifth. Armin van Buuren, AFROJACK, FISHER, Vintage Culture, and Peggy Gou took the sixth to tenth spot in the poll. Other artist placements of note include Hardwell at 11th, Charlotte de Witte at 16th, and Anyma at 17th as the highest new entry.

Sara Landry was another new entry at 75th, with her hard techno style at the forefront of many’s minds. Surprisingly, while the harder styles have seemingly infected much of the scene, this is the first year since 2000 that a pure hardstyle act did not make the cut on the Top 100 DJs poll.

The DJ Mag Top 100 DJs Awards show occurred at Johan Cruyff ArenA during AMF in Amsterdam today, where the top award was presented to Martin Garrix in front of 40,000 people. A parallel broadcast via YouTube was paired with the physical awards show, giving dance music lovers worldwide the chance to catch all the action. Additionally, this year’s edition featured charity partner UNICEF UK, a campaign that aims to raise awareness and help create a better future for every child on the planet.
