Martin Garrix is sidelined for the foreseeable future as he recovers from an emergency appendectomy.
Martin Garrix is recovering from emergency surgery for an unexpected case of appendicitis and will miss his scheduled appearance at Festival Internacional del Globo.
Set to headline the festival on Saturday, November 15, the Dutch DJ and producer would’ve joined AFROJACK, Gloria Trevi, and Dimitri Vegas in León. Instead, he will spend the time recuperating, per doctors’ orders.
“I’m truly heartbroken to share that due to an unexpected case of appendicitis and the surgery that followed, I’m unable to perform at the Festival International Del Globo this Saturday,” said Martin Garrix on social media. “My doctors and team have strongly advised me to rest and recover to avoid any post-surgery complications.”
Martin Garrix performed at Festival Internacional del Globo in 2022, and his return was one of the highly anticipated musical performances. From humble beginnings featuring 27 hot air balloons to now boasting over 200, with pilots from 15 countries, this event has evolved into one of the top three global balloon events.
Garrix’s remorse was evident throughout his statement. While I’m sure fans will be saddened by his cancellation, this hospital stay serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of one’s health.
“Please know this decision wasn’t made lightly — I have some of my favorite memories ever performing in this incredible country!! Thank you so much for your understanding, love and support..A good reminder for me that I’m human too, and my body needs some extra time to properly heal. Sending lots of love — I’ll be back soon, I promise,” he wrote.
This Mexico performance is all he’s cancelled so far. He is scheduled to be in Vegas on November 21 and 22, although there is no word yet on whether those dates will be affected. After that, he’s not scheduled anywhere for a month, so at least Martin Garrix will have a good, long break to rest as much as possible.
We here at EDM Identity want to wish Martin Garrix a quick recovery after this unexpected procedure. We will keep you updated as we get more information.
