The 31-year-old man is in critical but stable condition after reportedly getting stabbed with a machete and a knife at Revolver in Melbourne.
A 31-year-old man was taken to the hospital and placed in critical condition after a stabbing that took place at Melbourne nightclub Revolver, according to local police.
The incident took place around 4-4:30 on Sunday in the club’s Revolver Upstairs area during an event headlined by Australian duo Bag Raiders. Daily Mail reports that the two men viciously attacked the victim with a knife and machete, leaving nightclub staff to try and stop the bleeding with bar towels and tissues as management called off the remainder of the gathering.
The man was transported to nearby Alfred Hospital, where he fought for his life. As of last reports, he is in critical but stable condition.
“The pair of offenders fled the area before police arrived, [and were] last seen heading along Macquarie Street,” according to a statement by the police, who are reviewing CCTV footage from in and around the venue in an attempt to identify the assailants. “It is believed a knife and a machete were the weapons used.”
“We are heartbroken by the violent incident that took place at Revolver Upstairs this morning,” reads a statement by the nightclub. “Our thoughts are with all of those affected by this terrible event.”
It continues: “Our highest priority has always been the safety of our artists, patrons and staff. We have made the decision to close the venue while we are working through the initial stages of this situation.”
Sunday wasn’t the first time in recent memory that a stabbing took place at a Melbourne club. Six men were arrested after a stabbing of an 18-year-old man took place on August 16 at Love Machine, a nightclub only a stone’s throw away from Revolver.
