Renowned comedian and actor Mae Martin, Juno Award-winning vocalist Liberty Silver, and artists from the Birdsong New Music Foundation will come together for an evening of original music and holiday celebration on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at Lula Lounge. The annual fundraiser supports the creation of new music by individuals living with mental illness.

The concert will be hosted by Mae Martin and Margaret Konopacki, featuring performances from Martin, Silver, Robert Priest, Dustin Harder (Prairie Soul), Ashley Bell, Allan Kinney, D.M. LaFortune, Armand Anthony, Nicole McCafferty (Broadtree), Dr. Tansy Etro-Beko, and Rachel Scully, accompanied by Bryant Didier and the Birdsong Village Band. Margaret Konopacki serves as Executive Producer and Founder, with Dan Robinson as Stage Manager.

The Birdsong New Music Foundation was established in memory of David Martin (1987–2017), a talented musician and close friend of Mae Martin who lived with bipolar disorder. The charity empowers individuals facing mental health challenges to compose, record, and perform their own music, fostering healing and breaking the stigma surrounding mental illness.

Mae Martin reflects on the event’s personal significance:
“This incredible charity is very close to my heart. It was created in memory of my dear friend David Martin, who had bipolar and unfortunately passed away young. The charity helps others like him to compose, record, and perform their music. Creativity has been a lifeline for me during times of struggle with addiction and mental health. Performing at last year’s Birdsong Fundraiser in Toronto was the highlight of my year. It’s a small, intimate venue, so come support this amazing cause and celebrate with us.”

Founder Margaret Konopacki emphasizes the foundation’s impact:
“This fundraiser represents eight years of volunteer work dedicated to changing perceptions of individuals living with mental health challenges. Birdsong is a space of love, healing, and second chances. We are grateful to industry professionals, including Platinum award-winning producer Greg Kavanagh and Musical Director Bryant Didier, who volunteer their time to help bring this vision to life. Their support allows new music to create joy, healing, and empowerment for our artists.”

The event will highlight the growth of Birdsong artists, with three currently completing full albums. It stands as a testament to the foundation’s dedication to fostering creative expression, building confidence, and celebrating the transformative power of music.
