Lucidity Festival took to social media to announce that they will shut down their operations after facing financial hardship due to this year’s postponement.

The festival community has been rocked in recent years as beloved promoters, many of whom are independent, have been forced to end their runs or go on extended hiatuses. Lucidity Festival, which has been operating since 2012, is the latest to announce it‘s ceasing operations.

Lucidity Festival announced that the 2024 edition would not take place at Live Oak Campground as they planned earlier this summer, just weeks before it was set to take place. The festival organizers cited permit issues as the main cause after being denied by the Santa Barbara County Fire Department and California Highway Patrol. While Lucidity Festival provided a glimmer of hope by locking in a new venue for 2025, the postponement has caused severe financial stress, leading to their decision to cease operations.

Today, Lucidity Festival posted a lengthy message on its social media channels announcing that it will be closing its doors. The festival organizers shared the success of their growth before diving into the struggles they’ve faced in the wake of the pandemic and the severe weather at last year’s edition. This year’s postponement affected them far more deeply, with them stating that it was one “that we cannot financially recover from.”

Due to the financial issues stemming from the postponement, Lucidity Festival will be unable to provide refunds. “We deeply regret that we cannot offer you the resolution you deserve, and we are truly sorry for the disappointment and frustration this causes,” they shared. “Please know that this decision was not made lightly and we have exhausted every possible option to avoid this outcome.”

Lucidity Festival states that they sought out everything from government grants and loans to support from investors and donations from the community, but it just wasn’t enough to keep the festival afloat. “We did everything within our power to keep this dream alive.”

Lucidity has always been more than just a business, more than just a transformational festival, and more than just another event. It was a personal playground for our Lucid Family—a space to dream, create, laugh, cry, push our limits, share our passions, explore new experiences, meet new people, and truly be ourselves. Even if the business ceases, it in no way diminishes the connection, community, and memories we’ve forged together.

The Lucidity Team

The Lucidity Team closed the message by expressing gratitude for the love, energy, and passion the community has brought them during their run. “Thank you for being a part of our community, for sharing the dream, and for making these years unforgettable.”

If anyone out there knows of a solution to keep them afloat, please get in touch with them at [email protected] immediately before they officially initiate the process of going out of business.
