Las Vegas Nightclubs Face Longer Wait to Reopen Than Casinos”/>

Las Vegas, one of the largest and most popular entertainment locations in the world is preparing to reopen. Much of the city has been a ghost town since its shutdown by Governor Steve Sisolak due to COVID-19. With many states reopening businesses with strict guidelines, casinos in Las Vegas are just as ready to open as well. Unfortunately, nightclubs and dayclub pool parties will not be allowed to reopen when casinos do.

This update arrived in a new set of guidelines from the Nevada Gaming Control Board. The guidelines are to be followed by casino’s once Governor Sisolak approves the reopening. Since nightclubs and pool parties are known to be high concentrated areas, they’ll have to wait a bit longer. It’s just too risky to have hundreds of people packed into such a confined space. Luckily, pools will open back up just in time for the hot summer weather.

While clubs will remain empty, restaurants, shops, bars, and gambling areas will open at limited capacity. Casinos as a whole will have to operate at 50% capacity to prevent large crowds inside. Visitors will have to remain socially distant from one another inside. For example, to prevent guests from sitting next to each other while playing on slot machines, casinos should removed chairs from every other machine.

Obviously, it’s going to take some time for us all to reach full normalcy. The guidelines given will combat the spread of the virus but will depend on how well it is followed. Casinos are also expected to add additional requirements that work specifically to their properties. At the moment, Governor Sisolak is aiming to reopen casinos on June 4th. Nevada is also about to enter phase 2 of reopening.
