Time Warp organizer Cosmopop has enlisted US promoter Insomniac to help with the launch of new gatherings.

The ink has dried on a deal between US promoter Insomniac and German organizer Cosmopop, whose portfolio includes the Time Warp event brand.

Cosmopop Founder and CEO Steffen Charles shared the announcement with Resident Advisor, admitting that the post-pandemic live events market created obstacles for his company. He said that Time Warp’s established gatherings in Germany, Spain, Brazil and New York will operate as usual — but Insomniac will help the brand to introduce additional international events.

Insomniac will leverage its extensive network to locate new venues and then deploy staff to ready them leading up to each event. Charles pointed out that “Time Warp isn’t an event where you can simply break even in a new city,” and that it takes a “significant investment” to uphold the brand’s “uncompromising standards of quality.” He said that Insomniac’s experience, marketing strength, and production prowess suit it for the task at hand.

Insomniac was initially the name of a South Central Los Angeles party thrown by Pasquale Rotella in 1993. It has since grown into a multinational conglomerate that owns event brands like Nocturnal Wonderland, Factory 93, Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC). This year’s edition of EDC Las Vegas — arguably the crown jewel of the brand — drew 525,000 revelers to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Time Warp debuted in 1994 at a now Walzmühle, a historic mill in Ludwigshafen am Rhein, Germany. Subsequent editions bounced between there and nearby Mannheim, where it continues to take place today. One of Time Warp’s upcoming international events will bill Indira Paganotto, CamelPhat, Nina Kraviz, and others for a November double-header in New York City.

Neither Insomniac nor Cosmopop have shared any details surrounding their upcoming collaborations at the time of writing.
