Dance music heavyweight Gryffin, rising melodic bass producer Avello, and acclaimed singer-songwriter Sasha Alex Sloan have joined forces for their new collaborative single “Without You,” out now via 10K Projects.
Built around emotional songwriting and expansive electronic production, “Without You” finds all three artists operating in a space where vulnerability and festival-scale energy coexist naturally. Opening with guitar-led verses and Sasha Alex Sloan’s intimate vocal performance, the track subtly reconnects to Gryffin’s roots as a guitarist before gradually unfolding into a widescreen electronic anthem shaped by swelling synths, echoing percussion, and emotionally charged melodic progression.
Rather than relying purely on scale, the song carefully balances restraint and release, allowing moments of subtle introspection to evolve into cinematic climaxes. Themes of hope, connection, and gratitude run throughout the record, with each sonic transition amplifying the emotional core at its center.
A Collaborative Evolution
The collaboration also reflects Gryffin’s continued investment in fostering creative relationships with emerging producers. Following Avello’s remix of “Higher Power” and an opening performance at The Concourse Project earlier this year, “Without You” marks a deeper evolution of that connection—moving from early support into direct collaboration inside the studio.
Reflecting on the song’s creation, Gryffin described the writing session in Nashville with Sasha Alex Sloan as a moment centered around gratitude and emotional honesty. “The session together in Nashville with Sasha brought out the feeling of just being truly grateful,” he shared. “And that feeling in a song is what created ‘Without You’. This one feels personal, but our goal was to have the writing and record be something for everyone.”
For Avello, the collaboration emerged organically following a chance encounter with Gryffin at EDC Orlando. “He sent me the rough track that he and Sasha had been working on and asked if I’d be interested in building it out together,” Avello explained. “We went back and forth, then met in LA a month later and fleshed the project into a cool crossover of his melodic sound and my slightly more aggressive melodic bass sound.”
Looking Ahead
The release arrives during another major chapter for Gryffin. This summer, he will launch his “Ten Years of Music. One Night.” concert series with headline performances in San Francisco, Brooklyn, Los Angeles, and Denver. Designed as a career-spanning hybrid live experience, the series will revisit and reinterpret music from across his catalog while highlighting his evolution as both a producer and live performer.
At the same time, Avello continues establishing himself as one of melodic bass music’s fastest-rising names. With support slots for major acts and upcoming appearances at Lollapalooza and EDC Las Vegas, the producer’s breakout momentum continues accelerating rapidly. Meanwhile, Sasha Alex Sloan continues to expand a career that has long existed between indie songwriting, pop music, and emotionally driven electronic collaborations, bringing a distinct emotional clarity that consistently resonates across genres.
Together, “Without You” feels less like a standard crossover collaboration and more like a seamless fusion of three complementary artistic identities—blending melodic bass, singer-songwriter intimacy, and festival-scale emotion into one of the more emotionally resonant dance music records of the season.
