Carl Cox has something to say about the resurgence of the illegal rave scene in the United Kingdom. The 57-year techno legend is not impressed with this phenomenon. These events seem to become a rage of sorts under the veil of the coronavirus pandemic. These events are simply “not the answer”, he expresses. Cox also goes to the extent of holding the government accountable for them.
These illegal parties are basically done out of frustration, just done out of showing it’s our right to do what we want to do. It’s not the answer to this.

In an interview with Sky News, Cox ascertains that the presence of social distancing norms in place hinder the chances of a normal resumption for the global nightlife set up. He also emphasizes the absence of a transparent agenda for the reopening of clubs and festivals leading to the rise of these illegal rave scene.
Earlier in June, Manchester had its roads sealed by the police after a string of incidents emerging out of these illegal events. UK’s clubs and musical venues still face a persisting closure amid pubs and restaurants being green lighted to resume operations. A respected voice like Cox’s might tone down things a bit, but it also might not have the desired impact. Let us wait and watch.
