Billy McFarland is a man with ambition and never seems to stop working, even in prison. Last thing we heard from him was that he was writing a memoir to pass time behind bars. Recently, McFarland decided to share his story through a podcast titled “Dumpster Fyre,” which reflects on the disastrous Fyre Festival with proceeds going towards the $26M that he owes investors.
However, his involvement and appearance in the podcast came at a cost. McFarland is now reported to have been placed in solitary confinement and could be held for up to 90 days. His attorney, Jason Russo, told the Times,
“We believe the investigation stems from his participation in the podcast and the photographs that were taken and utilized in the trailer, which were all properly taken. We don’t believe he’s violated any rule or regulation, an there can’t possibly be anything else. He’s been a model prisoner there.”
Billy McFarland is still serving his six year sentence, with his release date set on August 30, 2023. There’s still plenty of enough time for the quick-witted prisoner to come up with the next big idea. The world will look forward to seeing what he’s up to next.
