Hi Alfiya Glow, congrats on the release of ‘Echoes of Arrival’! How have you been finding the response to this new track?
Hi! Thank you so much. The response has been fantastic. It’s been really rewarding to see how people are connecting with the track and sharing their positive feedback. It’s always a great feeling to know that your music resonates with listeners.
To begin, can you share the inspirations behind this new release? Were there any particular styles, sounds, or Artists that you found influential in the conceptualisation and production of ‘Echoes of Arrival’?
The inspiration behind ‘Echoes of Arrival’ came from my previous release ‘Leaving Origin.’ I wanted to tell a story, so naturally ‘Echoes of Arrival became a chapter 2. I wanted to create a piece that reflects both the depth and emotion and the energy of electronic dance music.
Tell us about your process, how did you construct the production?
The production process for ‘Echoes of Arrival’ started with the melodic concept. I often begin with the violin, crafting a few riffs and lines that set the emotional tone of the track. From there, I build around these melodies with electronic elements, layering drum elements, bassline, and atmospheric sounds. I use Ableton Live as my main DAW, which allows me to experiment and refine the track as I go.
The track features compelling violin layers, a signature to your music, can you share how you approach crafting the melodic details of your tracks? With ‘Echoes of Arrival’, what was the process like for composing the various riffs and lines?
Crafting the melodic details is one of my favorite parts of the production process. For ‘Echoes of Arrival,’ I spent a lot of time experimenting with different violin riffs and harmonies. I wanted each layer to complement the others while adding depth and emotion to the track. I usually start with a basic melody and then build upon it, adding variations and harmonizing lines until I achieve the desired effect.
What were some of the biggest challenges you faced during the production of ‘Echoes of Arrival,’ and how did you overcome them?
One of the biggest challenges was balancing the classical and electronic elements. It’s crucial to ensure that neither overshadows the other and that they blend seamlessly. I overcame this by continuously revisiting the mix, making adjustments, and sometimes even simplifying parts to maintain clarity and balance.
Which part of the production process is your favourite?
My favorite part of the production process is definitely the initial composition phase. This is where I get to be most creative, experimenting with melodies and harmonies, and seeing the track start to take shape. It’s an exciting and fulfilling process.
Can you share any specific techniques or equipment you used to achieve the unique sound of the track?
To achieve the unique sound of ‘Echoes of Arrival,’ I used a combination of analog and digital equipment. My electric violin setup includes a DI box with EQ settings and various FX pedals like delay, reverb, distortion, and harmony. These tools allow me to shape the violin sound in real-time. Additionally, I used software synths and samples within Ableton Live to add texture and depth to the track.
Was there something new you learned or a takeaway from producing this track that you’d like to share with starting producers?
One key takeaway from producing this track is the importance of patience and persistence. Don’t rush the creative process; take your time to experiment and refine your ideas. Also, always trust your instincts and stay true to your unique sound. Each track is a learning experience, and embracing the journey is just as important as the final product.
Can you give us a glimpse into what listeners can expect to hear from you next? What’s coming up on the horizon for Alfiya Glow?
