Darkoo dropped her new single ‘There She Go’ featuring Nigerian singer song-songwriter Mayorkun.
Mayorkun has been instrumental in the evolution of Afrobeats, carving out a successful career that has spanned over a decade. Also affectionately known by the moniker ‘the mayor’, Mayorkun is widely known for his philanthropic work in his homeland of Nigeria.
The single is the second release of the year for Darkoo and arrives hot on the heels of her viral hit ‘Always’, which featured the global sensation Black Sherif. The single transports us to her roots, an anthemic Afro-inspired track laced with summer vibes. Using the sample ‘Jack Sparrow’ by Rayce (one of Nigerian’s earlier afrobeat stars), ‘There She Go’ sees Darkoo celebrating the summer, spotting a ‘sweet one’ and adorning her with compliments.
“‘There She Go’ is fun vibes. I’ve spotted my dream woman and I’ve got to let her know how great I think she looks and that she should roll with me. As soon as I started working on this one it immediately reminded me of summer. I wanted ‘There She Go’ to be the track that reminds you of good times, the soundtrack to your summer and good vibes. Adding Mayorkun to the track was a no brainer, he killed it with his verse.”
