The British singer-songwriter’s second single ‘Get Up Stand Up’ brings up the haze of old-fashioned rock’n’roll with a brand new fresh look on grunge. Andy Keels caught our attention a few months ago when he released his debut single ‘Dead To Me’ – a pop-rock ballad about a lost friendship filled with grief and pumped with a high energy.
His new track takes a slightly different direction from the vibe delivered on ‘Dead To Me’, as Keels goes more NYC, more acoustics, more passionate, and his vibe is rawer. ‘Get Up Stand Up’ is a very polished, clean, and well-executed rock, maybe a bit too much. Don’t get us wrong, the song is great, but clearly, Andy Keels is still looking for his signature sound and tries to find a balance between pop and rock. In 2021 he is supposed to drop his debut EP, which hopefully will define his tunes.
‘Get Up Stand Up’ is full of characters finding joy, and motivation carried by strong guitar highlights. What we find as the biggest asset of this single are the drums that provide a sense of motion and put a fantastic rhythm throughout the whole song.
