Archi Club in Buenos Aires was the scene of a disaster during Max Dean’s set in the early morning of Sunday, March 1. It injured 15, six of whom were hospitalized.

A lighting rig toppled over and injured 15 people during UK DJ Max Dean‘s performance at Archi Club in Buenos Aires on Sunday, March 1.

The incident occurred in the venue’s VIP area around 5am. Video captured shows the truss falling over — unbeknownst to Dean, who’s facing the opposite way — and landing on several people. Others nearby stare in shock before attempting to help them.

According to Need To Know, ten ambulances arrived on scene. Among those injured, whose ages ranged from 25-49, six were hospitalized, with two suffering traumatic brain injuries. None of the injuries were life threatening, and all individuals have been discharged.

Archi Club’s capacity is reportedly 500 people, but around 700 appeared to be in attendance. The lighting rig that collapsed is said to have been installed mere hours before the event took place. Police and firefighters evacuated the venue, which is now closed indefinitely amid an investigation.

“I’m deeply saddened to learn that some people were injured following the stage collapse at the event in Argentina,” said Max Dean in a statement to Mixmag. “I was not made aware of the situation immediately as it took place behind me.”

He continued: “As soon as I was [made aware], the music was turned off and the venue was evacuated. My thoughts are with everyone affected. I sincerely hope those who were hurt make a full and speedy recovery. The safety of fans, crew, and everyone involved is always the top priority, and I am staying closely informed as more details become clear.”

A spokesperson on behalf of Archi Club did not immediately respond to EDM Identity’s request for comment, and the club has not publicly addressed the incident.
