Pasquale Rotella and Insomniac have purchased legendary Los Angeles nightclub AVALON Hollywood for a reported $15.7 million.
Last year, eyes turned to AVALON Hollywood after Pasquale Rotella and Insomniac announced that they had signed a partnership with the famed nightclub. The venue, a beloved space for many in the Southern California scene, has been integral to the music history of Los Angeles for decades, and this deal would allow electronic beats to continue flourishing there for years to come. Now, Pasquale Rotella has taken another step forward in securing that legacy by purchasing the 33,400-square-foot property.
AVALON Hollywood, also known as the Avalon Theatre, was sold to Insomniac by Ligny LLC for a reported $15.7 million earlier this month. The sale also marked the first time in 50 years that the venue, located at 1735 Vine Street, had changed hands.
“We couldn’t be more excited to share that we’ve purchased the property that houses Avalon, formerly known as The Palace, one of LA’s most iconic music venues,” said Pasquale Rotella, Founder and CEO of Insomniac. “For more than six decades, this space has been home to unforgettable moments and epic events in the heart of our hometown.”
With our lease coming to an end and the uncertainty of new ownership, we felt a responsibility to step in. The property has long been a sanctuary for music lovers and artists, and we couldn’t risk seeing its legacy disrupted. This decision was about protecting a vital piece of LA’s culture and ensuring it continues to thrive for generations to come.

The past few decades have seen AVALON Hollywood become an institution for dance music culture, famously hosting major artists in the scene like Skrillex, Swedish House Mafia, Eric Prydz, Armin van Buuren, Tiësto, Kaskade, Markus Schulz, and more. In its era as The Palace, the venue featured other icons, including Frankie Knuckles, Goldie, Sasha, and John Digweed.
We are committed to keeping this historic location alive as a vibrant hub for music, inspiration, and community, a place where art continues to bring people together, spark creativity, and create memories that last a lifetime. Along with legendary music venue operator John Lyons, we are now protected to continue Avalon’s legacy and build its future together.

Insomniac’s emergence at AVALON Hollywood has allowed the promoter to showcase even more artists from a range of electronic styles in Los Angeles. Recent shows have featured the likes of Nicole Moudaber, Deep Dish, Mark Knight, Space Laces, and Yultron. It has also given Insomniac’s brands, such as Dreamstate, Day Trip, Bassrush, and Factory 93, the ability to thrive in the bustling nightclub scene with their own curated events.
Upcoming experiences at the venue include an Emo Nite takeover, as well as nights featuring Showtek, Drezo, Emorfik, Alex M.O.R.P.H., Gioli & Assia, and more. Infected Mushroom is slated to perform a live set on Christmas Day, while Markus Schulz will return to the venue on New Year’s Eve for his annual open-to-close soiree.
AVALON Hollywood already joined the growing number of nightlife destinations that Insomniac owns or operates, thanks to its partnership in 2024, but this move solidifies its place as a home for shows for years to come. Other nightclubs that Insomniac owns or has partnered with throughout the US include Exchange LA, Academy LA, NOVA SD, TIME Nightclub, Echostage, Bloom, The Vanguard, and Club Space. Additionally, the behemoth brand has also recently made its presence known in Denver through partnerships with Vinyl and Church, while also splashing into another Florida city by backing Fort Lauderdale’s Kemistry Nightclub.
