Alesso Shares That Tinnitus Led to His Show Cancellations

“I took this as a sign to slow down,” said Alesso about waking up with a loud ringing in his ears.

It’s no secret that Alesso has been facing health concerns that led him to cancel shows in December and January. The Swedish superstar DJ and producer has now opened up and publicly shared that tinnitus is to blame for his sudden shift.

Alesso (real name Alessandro Lindblad) took to Instagram to “be a little bit transparent” about his ailment. “Basically, two months ago, I woke up with the loudest ringing in my ears, talking about 10/10,” he said. “I was in complete shock. It was not after a show; I just woke up and it was so intense.”

Lindblad went on to say that he’s experienced ear ringing in the past, but never to such a severe extent. “I know it’s super common in the music industry, but I had a really, really difficult time dealing with this,” he admitted.

Fortunately for Alesso fans, the “I Like It” producer shared that he has no plans to stop touring altogether. “The Good news is I’m getting better,” Lindblad said, specifically highlighting that he still plans to move forward with his Ultra Music Festival performance. “I will be doing shows, but maybe not as many, as you can understand.”

Lindblad, who first grew popular under the wing of Swedish House Mafia’s Sebastian Ingrosso for their 2011 collaboration “Calling,” is not the only artist to pause touring to focus on his health in recent memory. In November, The Blessed Madonna called off South American tour dates due to “ongoing, serious medical reasons,” not long after Marauda canceled all of his shows that month to focus on his mental health.

At the end of his video, Lindblad treated his crisis as a teachable moment. “I want everyone to be careful, wear ear protection, remember that we’re only humans,” he said.
