New Face Mask Has Hole For Straw

We’re surprised this invention took so long. A new face mask is on the market that has a hole in it for a straw. Finally, we can have a socially responsible party (safely 6 feet apart). While best practices recommend no partying should occur, if you somehow find yourself at a gathering where drinks are being served, this mask may be for you.

The mask was designed by Ellen Macomber, a New Orleans native. With tourism down in the party town, Ellen had to be innovative with how to make money. The demand for face masks has never been higher so she began to make fashionable Coronavirus masks. She has a crazy amount of designs, some quite fitting for raves. All of the face masks have a hole in it for your drinking pleasures.

She began with 40 masks at $30 apiece and they sold out within 30 minutes. Now, if you surf her website you will see a wide variety of masks, but still, most are sold out. The masks are all individually hand made and take an hour to complete. Demand for these is surging and she is struggling to keep up. Ellen makes the masks out of her recycled stockpile of textile parts. She had this to say about the masks:

“We were thinking of doing a lip appliqué, where it would flap open and close but you’d have to touch your face. I was like, ‘Well that won’t work because you have to touch your mask. That’s when I was like, ‘Dude, we just drill a little flap, an extra layer, and you angle the straw to get in. So the hole is never completely open.’”

While these masks are not exactly perfect for COVID-19 prevention, they are at least something. For young people who don’t seem to care much about wearing masks, this is the perfect medium. They are fashionable and still allow you to sip booze all Summer long.

You can hang with friends and feel a little more comfortable knowing you have some protection. The one suggestion I have for Ellen is to make some that are more masculine, men want to party to!
