The hype surrounding the Area 51 raid has now moved on to a three-day music festival called Alienstock. However, the location of the meme-inspired event, Rachel, Nevada, is warning people to “stay away”.
While the event promises to deliver an “amazing experience and “headlining artists” the small town of Rachel doesn’t believe it.
Matty Roberts, the Storm Area 51 event creator and event producer The Hidden Sound are the ones organizing the Alienstock event. Events previously put on by The Hidden Sound found on their Facebook page are much smaller than the proposed Alienstock.
The town, populated by less than 100 people, issued a statement on it’s website warning those planning to visit Rachel on September 20th.
The statement touched on the fact that there is no gas and no store in the town. The only establishment is the Little A’Le’Inn, a small restaurant, bar and motel in one.
The town warns outsiders about the “harsh desert environment” not suitable to inexperienced campers. The website cautions travelers that they can expect no cell service or internet availability. Additionally, the statement claims credit card processing will not work and urges attendees to bring cash.
The website also issues a warning to those organizing the event. The town claims a “dubious group claiming a connection to chaotic events” has taken over the event.
The statement makes it clear that the residents of Rachel are not on board with the events and has a message for those who plan to “capitalize on the chaos”.
“The residents were not asked and are not on board and will certainly not allow their town to be taken over. Law enforcement will be overwhelmed and local residents will step up to protect their property.”
Whether Alienstock becomes a full-fledged festival or just another meme, you can count on the townspeople of Rachel, Nevada to protect their home.
