Miami Kicks Ultra Can Down the Road Yet Again

Will they or won’t they? That question is on the minds of electronic music fans across the country. Will the Miami City Commission approve Ultra Music Festival for 2021?

It looked like answers were finally going to come this week. Miami officials had the approval of Ultra 2021 on their June 11 agenda. But that approval never came.

Mayor Francis Suarez requested that the decision on holding Ultra next spring be withdrawn from the meeting. No vote, discussion or debate occurred.

Miami’s inaction once again leaves EDM fans uncertain about the festival’s return next spring.

An April 9, 2020 vote on the popular music event never happened either. Instead, the city commission unanimously delayed the decision to their June meeting.

Miami’s indecision about Ultra comes on the heels of Coachella’s cancellation two days ago, and the lingering uncertainty about the Indio, California event even taking place in 2021.
