Berlin Clubs Return As Beer Gardens & No Dancing

Some fabled German clubs are getting accustomed with the times. With the German government facilitating the easing of lockdown, many of Berlin’s legendary clubs are lunging to obtain a food license. Leading the way is techno hot-spot Sisyphos, a prominent city landmark in Berlin’s Rummelsburg area. The club has re-opened its massive outdoor space as a beer garden.

Techno is belted out from 3pm on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. So is food and drink with the mask wielding staff providing the optimum of service. However, guests must remain seated for as much as feasible. Any form of dancing is strictly banned. An early 10pm closure is a mandate as well.

A fractionally outdoor club in Kreuzberg, Birgit & Bier, has witnessed resumption as a beer garden and pizzeria. The policies here are even more stringent. These include a complete ban on dancing, while it is compulsory for guests to wear masks. Other clubs are mulling options to start operating with an altered version. Most of the club owners are in two minds if it is economically viable to run partially-open venues at diminished capacity.
